An Arkia aircraft was spotted at the airport in Rachidia, Morocco, as part of a special flight that departed from Israel for the commemoration of the righteous Rabbi Yitzhak Abuhatzeira.
Flight IZ301 was marketed as a special charter by Israeli tourism providers, bringing passengers from Israel to participate in the traditional celebration held in the town of Tualal, where the righteous rabbi is buried.
Who Was Rabbi Yitzhak Abuhatzeira of Tualal?
Rabbi Yitzhak Abuhatzeira (1860-1912), the youngest son of Rabbi Yaakov Abuhatzeira and uncle of the Baba Sali, was a renowned Kabbalist and author of many important books. His grave is a pilgrimage site, and each year his passing is commemorated on the 14th of Shevat.
The Arak Ritual of the Celebration
One of the prominent customs associated with Rabbi Yitzhak is purchasing a bottle of Arak for the celebration, writing a request for salvation on the bottle, burying it until the next celebration, and upon receiving the salvation, opening it with a blessing to the righteous rabbi and recounting the salvation.
His Writings and Legacy
Among his notable works: Toldot Yitzhak (which includes “Elef HaMagen,” “Lev Tahor,” “Shabbat HaGadol,” and “Shaarei Binah”), Sharvit HaZahav, Zivchei Tzedek, Keter Torah, and more. He also wrote introductions to his father’s books, including Genzei HaMelech and Shaarei Arucha.
The Story of His Passing
According to tradition, on the 14th of Shevat 5672, Rabbi Yitzhak was murdered during a fundraising journey for a yeshiva. It is said that he foresaw his death and requested to be buried on that day before the Sabbath. The story of his death and the punishment that befell his murderers has become an integral part of the spiritual heritage of the Abuhatzeira family.
