These Are the Busiest Days at Ben Gurion

During the coming holiday season, a large number of passengers are expected to pass through Ben Gurion Airport. About 1.7 million passengers are expected to pass through Ben Gurion during the upcoming Tishrei holidays, according to Israel Airports Authority data. The popular destinations during the holidays are expected to be Greece, Cyprus, Italy and the United Arab Emirates.

On the eve of Yom Kippur, about 42,000 passengers are expected to pass through Ben Gurion. Air traffic will stop at 14:00 and resume at the end of Yom Kippur at 22:35.

And when are passenger peaks expected? The peak days during the holiday period are expected to be Tuesday, October 1, when about 76,000 passengers will pass through Ben Gurion on international flights; Sunday, October 6, when about 77,000 passengers will pass through; Thursday, October 10, with about 75,000 passengers; and Sunday, October 13, when about 74,000 passengers are expected.

The Israel Airports Authority prepared in advance for the volume of passengers expected at Ben Gurion over the holidays. The IAA increased its workforce at the airport, and during the holidays there will be a reinforced management presence in the terminals.

The Authority operates kiosks for fast check-in and self bag drop, and special lanes for passengers with hand luggage only. The Israel Airports Authority recommends that passengers check in from home, check which terminal their flight departs from and arrive at Ben Gurion 3 hours before the flight.
