Israel Airports Authority Expands Terminal 3 at Ben Gurion
Israel Airports Authority Spokesperson: the Israel Airports Authority is expanding Terminal 3 at Ben Gurion and has published two tenders for the expansion, including upgraded border control areas, security screening areas, a new entrance gate for passengers and an enlarged food court in the duty-free area. The move will improve operations, shorten waiting times and meet growing passenger traffic. Work will begin in the second quarter of 2025 and last about two and a half years.

The Israel Airports Authority (IAA) announced the publication of two tenders for the expansion of Terminal 3 at Ben Gurion Airport. As part of the move, significant upgrades will be made to the border control areas, security screening areas and the food court in the duty-free area, and a new entrance gate will be built for passengers arriving in Israel.
Improving Infrastructure and Supporting Future Growth
The terminal expansion is designed to improve the passenger experience, reduce waiting times and keep pace with the expected growth in passenger traffic in the coming years. The projects include expanding the terminal’s border control areas by about 7,000 square meters across four floors, allowing more control booths to be added and advanced technological systems to be upgraded.
“Tel Aviv Gate” – Fast Entry for Passengers
One of the significant additions is the construction of a new building called “Tel Aviv Gate”, which will serve as the entrance for passengers arriving by bus rather than via jet bridges. The new building, covering about 2,000 square meters, is designed to streamline passenger flow through border control and allow faster access to the baggage claim area.
Upgrading the Food Court and Screening Areas
In addition to expanding the border control areas, the hand-luggage screening area will also be expanded, with additional stations installed to improve passenger flow and reduce waiting times. The duty-free dining area, the food court, will be upgraded and expanded to provide higher-quality, more varied services to passengers.
Timelines and Future Benefits
Work on expanding Terminal 3 is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2025 and last about two and a half years. The upgrades are expected to contribute significantly to Ben Gurion’s operational capabilities and prepare it for the expected growth in passenger traffic.
