Bulgaria Air Resumes Flights to Israel
After a prolonged hiatus, Bulgaria Air will recommence its flights to Israel starting Thursday, December 26, 2024.
Gradual Return and Flight Frequency
The direct flights on the Sofia–Tel Aviv route will operate at convenient times during the day – in the morning and afternoon. Initially, until the end of the year and throughout January 2025, flights will be available twice a week – on Mondays and Thursdays. Starting February, the frequency will increase with an additional flight on Tuesdays, making it three times a week.
Advanced Aircraft
The route will be serviced by modern Airbus A220-300 aircraft, offering passengers a comfortable and enhanced flying experience. In Israel, the airline is represented by Open Sky. The return of Bulgaria Air to Israel signals an accessible and affordable option to a favored destination among Israelis, both for leisure and business travelers. This is a significant addition to the air routes from Israel.
Why Sofia Is a Popular Weekend Destination
Sofia has become a favorite short-haul destination for Israeli travelers thanks to its low cost of living, walkable old town, and easy access to ski resorts like Bansko in the winter months. A direct flight of roughly two and a half hours makes it especially appealing for a long weekend trip. Travelers booking early can often find lower fares, since prices on new or reinstated routes tend to rise as flights fill up closer to the travel date. It is also worth comparing the schedule against connecting flights through other hubs, which may take longer but occasionally offer more flexible timing. With Bulgaria Air back on the Sofia-Tel Aviv route and frequency set to grow through the winter, this is a good time to lock in a fare before demand picks up.
