Israir Holds an Experiential Accessibility Happening as Part of Its Commitment to Promoting Equal Tourism

An extraordinary event took place at Israir’s offices, aimed at raising awareness of accessibility in tourism and aviation

Israir continues to lead significant change in the world of tourism and making it accessible to the entire public. As part of its commitment to accessible tourism, the company held an experiential and moving accessibility happening at its offices, in cooperation with the ALUT, Paula and Access Israel associations.

An Enriching Experience to Raise Awareness

During the event, participants experienced up close the challenges faced by people with various disabilities – visible and invisible. The experience was delivered through unique stations where participants took an active part, while people with disabilities shared personal stories, deepening understanding of and connection to the subject.

Among the standout stations at the event:
✅ A space simulating sensory overload – led by ALUT professionals, simulating the experience of people with autism and cognitive disabilities at the airport and on the plane.
✅ A wheelchair obstacle course – hands-on experience of accessibility in public places.
✅ Blind tastings – making cocktails in complete darkness, simulating the challenges faced by blind people.
✅ Professional massage – by blind therapists from the Paula association, highlighting the importance of employing and integrating people with disabilities.

A Commitment to Accessible Tourism

Osherat Morad, Israir’s control center manager and accessibility coordinator, noted that the event is part of a wider process:
“We at Israir are proud to lead change and raise awareness of accessibility, out of the belief that every person is entitled to move, travel and experience the world with equality, dignity and maximum independence. This is just one layer of our work to promote accessibility in tourism and aviation, and we’ll continue to act, learn and lead real change.”

Hila Harmolin Ronen, Israir’s VP of Marketing and Sales, emphasized that the happening is part of an ongoing learning process within the company:
“The event is part of the process of embedding accessibility principles in all of Israir’s departments, with the aim of creating an equal and inclusive tourism and aviation experience for every passenger.”

Israir proves once again that it’s committed to making tourism more accessible, based on the understanding that every person deserves the opportunity to experience the world independently and equally.
