Planning a Jerusalem winery tour? Wineries in the area combine local wine, mountainous landscapes, and villages just a short drive from the city. To make your visit successful, it’s advisable to book tastings in advance, choose a designated driver, and plan for a few nearby stops at most.
Which Areas to Explore on a Jerusalem Winery Tour?
Well-known concentrations are found in the Judean Hills, around Mateh Yehuda, the Ella Valley, and along the route between Jerusalem and Beit Shemesh. Some wineries are small and operate by appointment only, while others include a visitor center, shop, or dining options.
Why Book in Advance?
However, operating hours vary between weekdays and seasons. A coordinated visit allows the winery to prepare for the tasting, explain available routes, and update on kosher status, accessibility, and group options.
How to Plan Your Jerusalem Winery Tour Route?
Choose one area and arrange the stops based on distance. Include a viewpoint, a short trail, or a meal, but leave room and avoid planning a packed day. Mountain roads may be slower than expected.
What to Check Before Arrival?
- The cost of the tasting and what it includes.
- Whether reservations and pre-payment are required.
- Kosher status, accessibility, and non-alcoholic options.
- Policies regarding children, pets, and groups.
Who Drives Back?
A designated driver who abstains from drinking is part of the plan, not a decision to be made at the end of the day. You can also book transportation or join an organized tour. Do not drive after consuming alcohol.
