Traveling to Israel via Jordan: National Security Headquarters to Israeli Citizens Abroad: Avoid Traveling to Israel via Jordan or Sinai

Following the closure of Ben Gurion Airport since June 12 until further notice, private initiatives have emerged among Israeli citizens abroad aiming to reach Israel through neighboring countries, particularly via Jordan and Sinai. These initiatives involve landing at airports in these countries and reaching Israel by land.

The National Security Headquarters wishes to clarify to the public that entering Jordan or Sinai for the purpose of returning to Israel can be dangerous. These are areas under Level 4 travel warnings – the highest level – indicating a significant threat to the safety of Israelis. Accordingly, the NSC recommends avoiding these areas, especially during this sensitive period of heightened security tension.

It was further stated that for Israelis abroad seeking to return to Israel, the recommendation is to patiently await official guidelines to be issued by the Ministry of Transport, when the skies reopen or organized and safe rescue flights become available.
