International Flight Passenger Traffic – March 2025: El Al Leads, Israir Surges
The Israel Airports Authority has released the international passenger traffic data for March 2025, revealing an intriguing snapshot of the Israeli aviation market. El Al continues to lead confidently, yet significant growth is observed among other Israeli airlines – El Al, Israir, and Arkia.
El Al: Dominating the Market, Yet Losing Share
El Al (LY) topped the chart with 537,223 passengers, marking an increase of approximately 11.28% compared to March 2024. However, El Al’s market share dropped from 53.5% in March 2024 to just 39.29% in March 2025, indicating a strong entry of other airlines into the market.
Israir: Impressive 116% Jump
Israir (6H) made a notable impact with a 116.08% increase in passenger numbers compared to last March. The airline flew 126,265 passengers, up from just 58,432 in March 2024, doubling its market share from 6.47% to 9.23%.
Wizz Air: Modest Yet Steady Growth
Wizz Air (W6), a regular player on routes from Israel to Europe, recorded a moderate rise in passenger numbers – from 121,514 passengers compared to 31,593 in March 2024. Its market share grew to 8.88%.
Arkia: 75% Surge in Passenger Numbers
Arkia (IZ) also demonstrated strong performance, with a 74.69% increase in passenger numbers – from 60,822 to 106,253. The airline’s market share stood at 7.77%, compared to 6.74% last year.
Flydubai: Maintaining a Stable Top 5 Presence
Flydubai (FZ), the low-cost carrier from the United Arab Emirates, continued to hold its position in the top five with a 70.43% increase in passenger numbers – 61,454 compared to 36,058 in March 2024.
