UK Entry Form: Everything You Need to Know About the New ETA
If you’re planning a trip to Britain soon, it’s important to know about the changes coming into effect at the beginning of 2025. From January 8, 2025, Israeli citizens and all visitors from visa-exempt countries will be required to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) – the UK entry form – before entering Britain. So what is the ETA, how do you apply and what should you know? Here’s all the information.
What Is the ETA?
The ETA is an electronic entry authorization designed to ensure orderly, clear entry to the country for visitors who don’t need a visa. It allows a stay of up to six months for various purposes such as tourism, family visits, short business trips or short-term study courses. It’s a new system that brings the UK in line with other countries that have introduced similar systems, such as ESTA in the United States.
How Do You Apply for an ETA?
The application process is simple, accessible and done entirely online:
- Filling out the application form Fill out the UK entry authorization form on the official UK government website and provide personal details such as your full name, passport details, purpose of travel and address in the UK (if relevant).
- Uploading documents Upload a scan of your passport (valid for at least six months from the travel date) and a recent photo that meets the requirements.
- Paying the fee The application fee is £10 (about NIS 48), paid by credit card on the website.
- Receiving the approval After the application is processed, you’ll receive approval by email within three business days on average. The approval will contain your ETA details and will be used when you enter Britain.
Who Needs an ETA?
The authorization is required for every visitor from Israel or other visa-exempt countries, including children and infants. It’s also required for passengers transiting through Britain to another destination.

What Else Should You Know?
