An Air Bridge from Dubai to Tel Aviv Could Bring Stranded Israelis Home
Amid the security situation and disruptions to flight schedules, Israel’s Ministry of Transport is weighing a possible air bridge from Dubai to Tel Aviv to bring home Israelis currently stranded in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, who have no rescue flight available to them. According to sources in the ministry, the airline flyDubai may operate a series of flights between Dubai and Ben Gurion Airport to get Israelis home.
The plan under discussion isn’t necessarily a single flight. It could take the shape of several consecutive departures packed into a short window—a model sometimes referred to as an “airlift”—built to clear the backlog of passengers trying to get back to Israel quickly.
Behind the Push for an Air Bridge From Dubai to Tel Aviv
The push began after Israelis stuck in the UAE, unable to get home once aviation activity in the region shifted, started appealing directly to the ministry. Officials have spent the past several days looking into ways to add flights and ease the situation for those left behind.
Transport Minister Miri Regev has personally approached the relevant parties and asked them to promote a solution for the Israelis still stranded in Dubai and elsewhere in the Emirates.
What Has to Happen Before Anyone Boards
Security Sign-Off Comes First
If the flights go ahead, they’re expected to run in coordination with security authorities and in line with the updated security assessment. Ministry officials have stressed that no decision to operate them will be made until the necessary approvals are in hand. The underlying goal is straightforward: get people out of the Emirates in an orderly, swift way while aviation activity in the region stays unstable.
flyDubai Hasn’t Said Anything Official Yet
As of now, flyDubai has not issued an official statement about operating the flights, nor has it floated possible dates. More details are expected to surface once a final decision is made.
In the meantime, Israelis in the UAE are advised to keep following updates from airlines and official Israeli sources.
