The Big Comeback: The Airlines Returning to Israel in March 2025
If the security situation doesn’t worsen, and based on how things look right now, March 2025 is going to be an especially significant month for the Israeli aviation industry. After a long period of anticipation, international airlines are returning to routes to Israel – and they’re coming with impressive schedules. United, Ryanair, Air India and Iberia – the airlines coming back, including a surprise everyone has been waiting for: the reopening of Terminal 1!
Ryanair and Iberia Express: The Flights Are Back – and So Is the Terminal
The end of March will bring not only spring sunshine, but also the return of two aviation giants – Ryanair and Iberia Express. Ryanair, which made its return to Israel conditional on the reopening of Terminal 1, returns on March 30, exactly when the legendary terminal reopens.
The airline will resume flights to seven main destinations in Italy, including Rome, Milan and Venice, alongside destinations such as Paphos in Cyprus, Athens and Thessaloniki in Greece, Budapest in Hungary and more. At the same time, Iberia Express will resume its Spanish route, which continued operating during the suspension period.
United: America’s Comeback
On March 15, 2025, after a long absence, United returns to Israeli skies with direct flights from Newark (New Jersey) to Tel Aviv. The airline will operate the premium route with its flagship aircraft, the Boeing 787-10, with a regular daily flight.
But that’s not all – from March 29, an additional daily flight on this route is planned, and there are plans to expand routes from Tel Aviv to more destinations later in the year. And if that’s not enough, in early April Delta is expected to join the celebration by resuming its route to Tel Aviv from JFK Airport in New York.
Air India: The Delhi Route Is Back in a Big Way
Air India will be the first to kick off the celebration today, March 2, 2025, resuming direct flights on the New Delhi–Tel Aviv route. The airline plans to operate five weekly flights, providing a fast connection to many destinations across the East.
Departures from Tel Aviv will be in the evening, landing early in the morning in Delhi. Return flights will depart at midday and land in Tel Aviv in the evening – an especially convenient schedule for those planning a connecting flight or a quick business trip.
The Timeline for the Return to Routine
✔ March 2 – Air India restores the Tel Aviv–Delhi route with five weekly flights. ✔ March 15 – United returns with direct flights from Newark, adding another daily flight later in the month. ✔ March 30 – Iberia Express continues its route to Spain, and Ryanair returns in a big way with the opening of Terminal 1.
