Israeli Government Approves 7 New Ambassadors Proposed by Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar
The Israeli government today, January 26, 2025, unanimously approved the appointment of seven new ambassadors, as proposed by Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar. These are important appointments reflecting the State of Israel’s commitment to continuing to strengthen its diplomatic ties around the world.
The approved appointments:
- Israel’s Ambassador to Moldova: Mr. Yoram Elron, who previously served as Israel’s ambassador to Bulgaria and Cameroon and as Consul General in Montreal, Canada. Note that Israel’s embassy in Moldova is expected to open next week, following Minister Sa’ar’s decision in December.
- Israel’s Ambassador to Georgia: Mr. Walid Abu-Haya, who serves in the Economic Division of the Foreign Ministry.
- Israel’s Ambassador to Hungary: Ms. Maya Kadosh, who serves as director of the Policy Coordination and Planning Division at the Foreign Ministry and as chief of staff to Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar. Kadosh previously served as senior policy adviser to former Foreign Minister Israel Katz.
- Israel’s Ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Benin and Togo: Mr. Simon Serousi, who serves in the Europe Division of the Foreign Ministry.
- Israel’s Ambassador to Kazakhstan: Mr. Yoav Bistritsky, currently deputy ambassador in Azerbaijan.
- Non-resident Ambassador to North Macedonia: Ms. Vivian Eisen, a graduate of the National Security College and formerly director of the Latin America Division at the Foreign Ministry.
- Non-resident Ambassador to Malta and Slovenia: Ms. Ruth Cohen-Dar, who serves as director of the Public Diplomacy Division at the Foreign Ministry.
Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar said in response to the approval of the appointments: “The excellent diplomats appointed today will bring their skills and commitment to representing the State of Israel with dignity and professionalism, and will help strengthen its political, economic and cultural ties around the world.”
