Ryanair Returns to Israel This Summer – Subject to Terminal 1 Opening
Irish low-cost airline Ryanair, one of the largest and most significant low-cost airlines in Europe, announced that it plans to resume its flights to Israel this summer.

However, the airline set a clear condition for fully resuming operations at Ben Gurion Airport: the opening of Terminal 1 for departing flights. The airline’s CEO stressed that Ryanair’s operations rely on especially low fares, which are only possible if airport taxes and airline charges are low, as offered by Terminal 1.
Terminal 1, used mainly for low-cost flights, allows airlines such as Ryanair to offer tickets at competitive prices thanks to its low cost structure, compared with Terminal 3, where usage costs are significantly higher.
Ryanair, which has become a global symbol of low-cost flying, sees Israel as an important strategic destination. Resuming its flights now depends on the Israel Airports Authority’s decision to reopen Terminal 1, a move that could lower flight prices for Israelis and allow the airline to return to full operations in Israel.
Ryanair’s announcement may be good news for the Israeli traveling public, which is looking for cheap alternatives for flights to various destinations around the world, especially at this time. However, it now remains to be seen whether the conditions the airline has set will be met.
