Israel Airports Authority Prepares for Storm “Byron”: Potential Flight Disruptions Expected
The Israel Airports Authority issued a special readiness announcement today (Tuesday) in response to the unusual weather system “Byron,” expected to reach Israel this evening and continue until Friday, December 12, 2025. This is a severe winter system featuring strong winds, heavy rains, and thunderstorms, which may impact airport operations across the country.
Following a readiness discussion led by the Director General of the Ministry of Transport with all relevant parties, the Airports Authority is preparing to implement the necessary procedures for the safe and efficient operation of Ben Gurion Airport and domestic airports, even under complex stormy weather conditions.
Passengers Advised to Prepare and Stay Informed
The authority emphasizes that due to the unusual weather conditions, there may be changes to flight schedules, including delays, early departures, and even cancellations. Passengers are advised to follow the regular updates provided by airlines and prepare accordingly.
It is also recommended to check the flight status on the websites of the airlines and the Airports Authority before arriving at the airport and to plan the journey in advance, considering possible traffic congestion due to road conditions.
Airport Operations to Continue, Adhering to Safety Guidelines
The Airports Authority stresses that it is prepared for the upcoming winter system and will continue to update the public as necessary, ensuring safety protocols, maintaining operational continuity, and providing optimal service to passengers even under challenging conditions.
