Terminal 1 Returns to Operation: More Than 1,377 Flights Expected to Take Off in April
The Israel Airports Authority announced today the resumption of operations at Terminal 1, following upgrade and maintenance works. The terminal will return to operation in the last week of March for domestic flights, and at the end of the month for international flights too.
According to IAA figures, more than 1,377 flights are expected to depart from Terminal 1 during April, with the number of passengers passing through it expected to account for about a quarter of all departures from Ben Gurion Airport.
Airlines Returning to Operate from Terminal 1
In the first stage, the terminal will serve flights by Israeli and international airlines, including:
El Al – more than 80 weekly flights
Arkia – about 40 weekly flights
Israir – more than 30 weekly flights
Wizz Air – about 110 weekly flights to 19 destinations
Ryanair – 86 weekly flights to 22 destinations
easyJet – expected to resume its flights to Israel in June
The renewed operation of these airlines from Terminal 1 will give passengers direct access to dozens of popular destinations across Europe, including Sofia, Budapest, Bucharest, Berlin, Rome, Athens, Rhodes, Warsaw, Vienna and more.
The Israel Airports Authority Prepares for the Terminal’s Reopening
Due to the expected significant increase in passenger traffic ahead of Passover, the Israel Airports Authority has completed the recruitment of dozens of security and operations staff, and is continuing to recruit more employees as part of a campaign offering improved conditions.
