Does the El Al CEO’s Retirement Package Include Free Business Class Flights for Family?

After exercising stock options worth millions and meeting the eligibility criteria, the retirement package of Dina Ben Tal Ganancia, former CEO of El Al, is now revealed: financial bonuses, severance pay despite her resignation, and five years of free business class flights for her and her family, or at a 90% discount.

Next month, El Al’s shareholders’ meeting is set to approve the termination terms for Ben Tal Ganancia, who recently completed a three-year and two-month tenure as CEO. In total, she served 18 years in various roles within the company.

Speculations about her departure began as early as March 2025, after she exercised options for a profit of 5.3 million shekels. The official announcement was made in July 2025, at a time that was not coincidental: completing three years of service granted her the right to retirement benefits according to a policy approved in 2022.

Under the terms, Ben Tal Ganancia and her immediate family will receive five years of free business class flights – or alternatively, flights at a 90% discount, according to pre-established rules.

In late 2024, El Al’s management attempted to advance an expanded retirement package for her, which included lifetime Top Platinum status and additional options valued at an estimated 10.5 million shekels – but the move was blocked by institutional bodies. Ultimately, a one-time grant of half a million shekels was approved as a substitute.

Now, shareholders will be asked to approve an additional grant for 2025 equivalent to six months’ salary – approximately 830,000 shekels, as well as full severance pay, despite it being a resignation – an additional amount estimated at one million shekels.

She leaves her position during a particularly successful period for the company: El Al recorded record profits, mainly due to reduced air competition during the conflict, and the stock surged by more than 500% over the past three years. The company’s market value now stands at nearly 10 billion shekels. The new CEO will be Levi Halevi.
