Ryanair Hesitates to Return to Israel: “We May Not Return at All”
The Irish low-cost giant Ryanair is uncertain about resuming its operations to Israel, even after the end of hostilities, according to CEO Michael O’Leary. His statements raise significant questions about the future of the company’s return to Ben Gurion Airport.
While the company had announced at the beginning of the summer that its flights would be suspended at least until October 25, 2025, it now seems that the return is not guaranteed. Speaking to journalists in Dublin, O’Leary claimed, “There is a real chance we will not return to Israel, even when the security situation stabilizes.”
According to him, the delay in the company’s return is not only due to security considerations but also because of the conduct of the Israeli aviation authorities, which he claims “are delaying our operations and making it difficult for us to return.”
Ryanair, which in recent years has become a significant player in the low-cost routes to Israel, is considered one of the most popular airlines among travelers from Israel to Europe due to its affordable prices and extensive network of destinations. The prolonged suspension of operations and the recent statements by the management raise questions about the future.
