Ahead of the expected growth in passenger traffic at Ben Gurion and the return of international airlines, the Israel Airports Authority (IAA) announced a tender to set up a unique store offering ready-made, packaged food for flights.
The store, to be set up in the duty-free area, will meet the growing need for fast, quality, accessible food for passengers. The store will offer a variety of ready-to-eat food products designed for immediate use – both as a meal in the area’s seating zones and as a ready meal for the flight. In addition, quickly prepared sandwiches will be offered for sale. The “Grab & Go” service model, popular at airports around the world, will allow passengers to save time and enjoy fast service before boarding.
The move is designed to meet passengers’ needs, especially against the backdrop of the trend of many airlines to stop providing free meals on short flights and even to charge extra for in-flight food. The new store is expected to improve the passenger experience while precisely meeting their needs, whether on short flights or to destinations where meals aren’t provided during the flight.
The current tender is part of a series of tenders published by the IAA recently, which led to wins for leading food chains such as Blecker Bakery, Landwer, Tati, Ilan’s and Cafe Cafe. In addition, the Authority continues to expand its services with tenders to operate toy stores, mobile phone stores at Ramon Airport and VIP lounges in Terminal 3.
These steps underline the IAA’s commitment to upgrading the passenger experience and improving services at Ben Gurion and other airports around the country.
